SALE OF WORK,

The annual sale of work m connection with the W.C.T.U. was held in the Methodist Hall yesterday afternoon and evening, when there was a large attendance of sympathisers and friends. The various stalls were heavily stocked, and excellent business ■was done. . ■ The competitions, which were judged by Mr. Freeman, resulted «s follows: Fruit cake: Mrs. Boon 1, Miss Knapp 2. Plain sponge: Mrs. Walker 1, Mrs. Kirby 2. Fancy sponge: Mrs. Wood. 1, Mrs. Sponge roll: Mrs. White 1, Miss Holdaway 2. Home-made bread: Mrs. Kemp 1, Mrs. Kirby 2 and special. Plain scones: Mrs. White 1, Mrs. Moyes 2. . , Pikelets: Mrs. Kirby 1 and special, Mrs. Wood 2. Mr. Freeman gave a special prize of 10s 6d for -foe bread and pikelets. The stallholders were as-follows:— Competition stall: Mesdames Diekson jand Lang. Plant stall: Meadames Moycs and Hill ChUdren's stall: Mesdamcs.King and Bell. Produce stall: Mesdaines Ldmonds, Kirby and H. Wood. Work stall: Mesdames Watson, Julwards and Kemp. Christmas tree: Loyal Temperance Legion. V stall: Miss Knapp. Sweet stall: Mesuames Viiite :iuu "Edwards.

Jumble stall: Mrs. Ames. Tea room: Mesdames Wilkinson, Hutson, Walker, Brown, Misses Gardner, Millar, Whitney and tßCuteon. Mrs. Brown was the secretary, and with a willing band of workers was largely responsible for the success or the" effort. . In the evening, an enjoyable piorvramme of songs and recitations was contributed by members of tbo Loyal leinperance Legion, the young performers being warmly applauded.
