(Received July 27, 5.5 p.m.)

New York, July 19

The "New York Times'" Washington correspondent states that race riots, in which hundreds of white soldier", marines, sailors and civilians attacked negroes in the streets and on board trams, resulted in many arrests of whites and blacks by the police, who had the greatest difficulty in suppressing the disorders. Many victims were taken to hospital.

The riots followed attacks upon white women by negroes.
