MILITARY CATASTROPHE NOT IMMINENT.

THE BRITISH WITHDRAWAL

BOLSHEVISTS CLAIMING SUCCESS.

(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association)

(Received July 27, 11.45 p.m.) London, July 26. The "Pall Mall Gazette" says it is stated in official circles thai there is no immediate danger of a military catastrophe in Russia. Withdrawal in any case was intended, but possibly a reinforcement will be sent to secure the evacuation. France has already sent a reinforcement.

Public interest centres in the situation in Northern Russia. The Bolshevists claim that they are advancing along the Archangel railway. The revolt of Ditmer's battalion, composed of former Bolshevists, who murdered five of their British officers, facilitated the capture of Onega.
