Wellington, July 25. A return received by the Minister or Defence shows that at tne end of May 56,787 New Zealand soldiers had returned to the Dominion. A further 3266 returned during June, making a total of 60,053. Of these the number gazetted out or discharged was 51 578 • returned to duty, 1603; awaiting discharge, 3048; awaiting return to duty, 61; under treatment in hospital 997 -in convalescent homes, 301; under treatment as out-patients, 2054. A summary of the New Zealand war casualties to July 14th gives the following information:—Officers wounded, 1682; officers died, 742; other ranks wounded, 38,346; other ranlcs died, 15,----40 9; other ranks missing, 1; grand total, 56,160.
