OPENING OF SEASON.

(From "The Colonist," April 14th.) I Ihe opening of the golf season took place on Saturday afternoon, and the beautiful weather'attracted1 a large number of members and "their friends. The links were in splendid order considering the dryness of the season. The atten- • tion to the greens during the summer j months should amply repay the club for ; the expenditure. - I The- season was formally declared; opened by "\lr A. Tosswill, the captain, i who in the absence of the club president,' Mr J. H. Cock, drove the first ball, and in the course of a happy speech expressed the regret the members all felt at the absence of the club's esteemed president, ■Mr Cock. He referred to the excellent prospects of the elus> and the large num- j ber of new menbers, both men and ladies. I With the excellent course and the ideal I weather, the Nelson golf links should be the best in the Dominion. The club j had got through the four years of war, and members of the club had done their, duty to their King and country. Seve-; ral had paid the 'supreme sacrifice, '
