ROAD BOARD.

SUBURBAN NCIITH

The monthly meeting of .the Suburban North Road Board "was held on Friday, March 14th, when there were present J. Corder (chairman), Messrs A. Dodson (treasurer), T. W. Anderson, and A. Stagg. Messrs E. W. Frost and B. 7<V Weller were excused Trom attendance.

[ The Overseer reported that he had I visited all the roads under itie control iof the board since last meeting, and found them in very good order. The road up the hill leading to IVRayner's property had been repaired by filling up holes and metal patching where required. Very little work had been done on the Cable Bay road, with the exception of burning gorse and other rubbish opposite Mr 1.. Harvey's property. The road in the upper Lud Valley had been repaired from MivT. Anderson's to Mr D. Boon's, principally by metal patching. The road from the Teal Bridge to the entrance of Mr J. Brown's property had been put in order by patching the worst places with metal. The work of repairing the culvert on Bruce's road was not yet put in hand, but arrangements had been made to have the work done during the present month. The stones arid sand for the new culvert near Mr-F. WhitwelPs were already on the site, and the timber for the covering was ready and was expected to be carted in about a week's time.

The report was approved and adopted. Correspondence was received from the Receiver of Land Revenue, Nelson informing the board that the amount cf £2 accrued from land thirds and fourths had been placed to its credit with the Bank of New South 'Wales, Nelson.— Received.

From the Minister of Labour, acknowledging the receipt of letter in reference to the fixing of the statutory half-holi-day ior this district.—Receivec! From the War Funds Office, . giving the names of additional societies coh^ trolling war funds.—Received. From the Minister of Public Health, forwarding a copy of the Public Health Act. —Received.
