DEFENCE TRAINING.

Wellington, Feb. 22. The first school of instruction for officers and aon-commissioned officers o£ the Territorial and Cadet forces was concluded at Trentharn yesterday. The courses, ■which comprised machine-gun: and musketry Instruction, infantry drill, and physical training, extended; over three weeks/ and were attended by 40 officers and n.c.o.'s from all parts of the Dominion. The pupils were exceptionally keen, and benefited considerably as a result, attaining a state of proficiency which would have done credit to any reinforcement n.c.6. class who' had been training for the same period. The classes before concluding were congratulated by Major-General Robin on their progress. The General requested them to remain on snd take further courses. A fresh class was started today. The school will continue till May .°Lst. the end of the Defence training year,
