A terrific thunderstorm lasting twenty minutes, accompanied by a high wind, & deluge of rain, and monstor hailstones, on Saturday did great damage in the city and suburbs, particularly the eastern suhurbs. Windows and skylights were smashed in wholesale fashion, and roofs were lifted. Water • spoiled large quantities of stock-in shops and warehouses. Many 1 sailing boats capsized in the harbour. A woman was killed by lightning at Bondi.

Tlio storm cleared as suddenly as it arose, and eased the intense heat which had been prevalent for many days.
