HAYWARD'S PICTURES.

"STRANDED."

"Stranded," which heads the new programme at Hay ward's to-night, is a romantic film-drama from the Triangle studios. It is a charming story, and succeeds in getting off the beaten track. The winsome little heroine is Bessie Love, who- was never more appealing, while De Wolf Hopper as the brokendown Shakespearian actor makes a memorable figure. These two are members of a vaudeville troupe which is on the point of bankruptcy. The unscrupulous manager, fascinated by the little trapeze girl proposes to appropriate the funds of the troupe and run away, taking the girl with him. She refuses, and is so disturbed over the proposal that she meets with an accident while doing her act._ The troupe depart, leaving her behind. The broken-down actor stays to look after her, and passes her off as his daughter. Things then go on quite smoothly for a while. The girl becomes engaged to a fine young fellow of the township, and the wedding is arranged. Then the rascally manager turns up, and threatens to reveal to the bridegroom's staid parents that the. girl used to be on the stage and actually wore tights. In the ensuing .scene the old actor plays the grandest part of his life. The picture has a unique appeal.
