New York papers publish a New Year message to the American people from the Pope, saying:—"We are glad to send most cordial greetings to the American people, who are the champions of the principles which have been proclaimed by President Wilson and the Holy See, insuring world justice, "peace, and Christian love. Out of the Peace Conference may there be born a League of Nations, which, by abolishing conscription, -will reduce armaments, and establish international tribunals to eliminate or settle disputes.
