NEWS OF AMERICAN VICTORY

London, Sept. 17. Reuters correspondent at British Headquarters says there >is plenty of evidence that the enemy are anticipating further concerted attacks at various places. A captured order points out that the Allies mu^t now be expected to strike heavy blows. The order bewails the lack of assault troops, as rendering the prospect of successful counter-attacks or effective resistance impossible.
Recent prisoners state that every effort has been made to suppress all news of the American success at St. Mihiel, in connection with which alarming rumours prevail. The general impression seems to be that the American victory is so overwhelming that the German army command dare not admit the fact.'
I Reuter'B correspondent at American Headquarters states that evidence is accumulating that the enemy intend to withdraw behind the Hindenburg Line in Lorraine if they are further pressed. They axe bugening towns along the Mosolle which are likely to fall into our hands. They include Dammaritit and Roobause, both of which are within the Hindenburg Line.
The Germans arranged for Austrian troops to tear the brunt of the attack east of St. Mihiel,, and ordered:them: to hold us back until alTthe^Germans?had: withdrawn. Tho Austrians consequently suffered the heaviest losses. The entire, artillery .of the aisfc . 'German Division was captured.
