CONSIDERATION BY ADVISORY BOARD.

Later in the evening the acting-chair-man, with tiie i'un. secretary (wlio is a member oi: the Advisory Board), waited upon the A uv ist;)-y Board of the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Ivund Society, and the lion, secretary placed the statement of accounts before the board and explained various points in connection therewith.

Satisfaction wav expressed at the result shown, and-the Mayor, as president of the board, moved that an appreciation of the .work of the Silver Bullet Cannonade executive be placed on record :, pointing out how much of the total fund administered by the board was due to this effort.

Mr James Hunt seconded the motion, which was supported by Mr Hoult, who in his remarks said that there was a feeling that more information should be given about the result of the effort, and he thought that the balance-sheet should be published. Tnc motion was carried with accla-

The hon. secretary stated that the executive had already resolved to advertise th« balance-sheet, and Mr Bond, following, acknowledged on behalf of tho executive, the vote passed, and pointed out that there was no reasonable ground for the adverse.: criticism that had been made in some quarters, as month by month the published reports of the 'Advisory Board meetings had shown the amounts received from the SilveT Biillet executive. He also referred to the particularly valuable service tliat had. been rendered by the hon. secretary, and by Mr E. J. Allen; who with Mr George Robertson had'acted as bon. trf-nsurer, by Mr H. R. Duncan, the ckuirman of the executive, and by Mr J. S. Evans, who had delivered addresses throughout the district, while all the members had given much time and done a lot-of hard work.

The mention of these services was received .with applause.
