RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL.

CABLED CONGRATULATIONS TO

MARSHAL FOCR

At tho conclusion of the business at the meeting of tho City Council last aught, Councillor [Jampson referred tc the victorious advance of the Allies in the West., and said lie thought it wouid not be out of place to record its gratification at the splendid news they were receiving. He tharefore moved :—

'"That this Council, place on record its congratulations tc the British, New Zealand, Australia.:-., and Allied forces upon the brilliant achievements during the past month, and has every confidence in committing tho future to their indomitable efforts, mid that a cable be sent to Marshal Foch embodying the .above resolution."

The resolution was seconded, by Cr. .Stringer, supported by Councillors Carlisle, Watson, Harris, Rout and the .Mayor, and carried unanimously.
