DEATH FROM INJURIES.
«■ V' [NQUEST ON THJE VICTIM.
An inquest conceraing the death of •lames Lancaster, a workman in the employ, of the Tarakohe Cement Company who died in the Hospital on Monday :right from injuries received at the works last Thursday, was opened before the Coroner (Mr." E. Davidson) yesterday afternoon.
Mr. d. J. Harley watched the proceedings on behalf of the Golden Bay Cement .Company. Dr. .«r.uiieson, Resident Surgeon, deposed that the decoded was admitted to the tlospitai on Thursday last, suffering, from a fractured and dislocated spine and minor wounds and bruises about tbe head, neck, and shoulders. He vns completely paralysed from the. sliquid (:•:>.. downward^ His ;condition did net .alfo'r. materially \intil the afternccn of the I6th, when he gradually became -unconscious, and he died the same evening. The deceased told him that "he- leceived his injuries through a slip of coal coming down on him at the Tarakolu; cement works, and his injuries wore consistent with such a thing happening.
After the deceased's widow had given formal evidence of identification, the inquest was adjourned to Tarakohe, on a date to be fixed.:
