Twenty-one important German towns were bombed" by the Independent Air Force during August, including the following places, which were attacked three times:—Frankfort factories and railways; Mannheim chemical factories ; Metz-Sablon railways; SaaK burg, Thionville, and Troves railways and workshops.

The following were attacked once:— Battenburg, Burbach, Coblenz, Cologne, Darmstadt, Dilligen, Duren, Ehriinge, Karlsrujie, Luxemburg, Offenburg, Kemilly, Rombach, Saaralbe, and Volkingen. Over a hundred tons of bombs were dropped. During the past three months there have been 249 raids into Germany, and 247 tons of bombs have been dropped. The German territory "bro\ignt into the war zone represents a belt of the Rhine Valley, approximately 250 miles long.
