After a sharp fight, in which «6i*pulsed a heavy counter-attack with loss, we gained the old British trench . lines on the ridge overlooking Gouzeaucourt, capturing Got\zeaucourt Wood. On the left the attack of other English troops successfully advanced the ' j line in the eastern portions of HavrinL court Wood. We captured a number of prisoners

in those operations. We repulsed attacks against the posts recently established westward of La Bassee. In wet and Btormy weather the aeroplanes carried out their work with difficulty We dropped five tons of bombs in the daytime. There was no night flying. The enemy's activity is sEght. We i brought down five enemy machines and drove down two uncontrollable. No British aeroplanes.are missing.

We captured south of the Oise brick works and tbe station at Servais. We advanced in the region north of Laffaux, and in the region of Glennes, between the Aisne and the Vesle. i
