COUNCIL
CABLED CONGRATULATIONS TO MARSHAL FOCHV
At the conclusion of the busine<=c at the meeting of the City Council last uiglit, Couuci'ior Hampson reierred tc the victoriouf? adtauce of the Allies in the Wes!;. and said he thought itwouid not be cut of place to record its gratification at tho splendid news they were receiving. He therefore moved :— "That this Council place on record its congratulations to the British, New Zealand, Australian, and Allied forces upon the brilliant achievements during the past month, and has every conf£ deuce m committing the future to their indomitable efrorts, and that a cable be sent to Marshal Foeh embodying the above resolution." > "' a
The resolution was seconded hv Cr. Stringei-, supported by Councillors Carlisle, Watson, Harris, Rout and the Mayor, and carried unanimously.
