TJio steady rain which fell last evening caused the sewer aL the intersection of Hardy and Waimea streets to -overflow, and those who' had been attending the entertainment at the. Theatre Royal found the streets flooded with storm watcr'to a depth of several inches. Cabs and motor cars wore in demand, but many were compelled to trudge through the water over their boot tops in order to get home. It is high time that the City Council took steps to abate the stormwater nuisance at this-spot, as after a, few hours' rain now the sewer overflows, causing considerable inconvenience to those who happen to be in. the locality, * The breach in the roadway at the corner of Hardy and Waimea streets, caused by the bursting of the sewer manhole, constituted a serious menace both to pedestrians and vehicular traffic, the street being crowded at the time, j
