SICK AND WOUNDED SOLDIERS' FUND.
A meeting; of the Advisory Board of the Nelson Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund Society was held in the Mayor's room at the" City Council Offices last evening-. Present: Mr W. W. An unusually largo.number of applications for assistance, sent in by returned men, were considered, and in most 'cases the applicants were granted relief.
Accounts amounting to £S 18s 6d were passed for payment. In a large number of cases doalt with by the executive between the meetings the executive's action was endorsed.
A statement of tho fund's financial position was placed on the table.
The secretary of the Nelson Returned Soldiers' Association asked that a denu-
tation bo .permitted to wait on the Advisory Board at some suitable time and place", with a view to urging the subsiuismy of Mr J. H. Cock's generous gii't of £2000 for the erection of a returned soldiers' club in Nelson. It was resolved that the Returned Soldiers' Associatio:: iy> advised that the Advisory Board would be pleased to meet the deputation on n euuesciay, October 2nd_, at 7 p.m.
