:. The filial meeting of the • executive of the Silver Bullet Cannonade- which was held in 1916 in aid of the Nelson Sick and-Wounded Soldiers! Fund was held last evening. .-There were present Mesrs E. J. Aj!i->n, \X. Fitz-Gerald, Geo. .R-oiicvtEion, 11. -W'. Stiles, Goo. Hogg,-P. Bond, r-nd Walter Snodgrass:(hon; sec). In the unavoidable absence of Mr H. 11. D'uucan (chairman), Mr Bond was voted to tho chair.,.-.■■ Apologies were re..■o.ued from other-members of the executive, and .•several wove absent from Nelson.

It will l;o remembered that the Cannonade was inaugurated for the purpose of raising £25,0U1> in order to place the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund on an adequate financier-basijfc En the course of the campaign a considerable amount of the money donated was mado on deferred payments extending over a period of two years. The last of these payments became due yesterday, and the meeting was called for last night to'pas's accounts, etc., and make a report to the Advisors- Board of the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund.

The .secretary explained that the audit (made by Mr j. X Milnc-r) was practically completed, put time did no-b permit of the audit being actually completed since receipt of the final payments due. He also explained that there was stiil a small amount overdue which way, hpivever, to "be reckoned as good. After consideration of the""statemeni of accounts, it war. resolved, on the motion of Mr E. J. Allen, seconded by Mr ]R. V\ r. Stiles, that the balance-sheet be passed subject to the completion oi: audit.

On flis motion of Mv Fitz-Gerald, seconded by Mr Robertson, it was resolved that the- balance-sheet be published as an advertisement in'botii the Nelson papers, and that the preparation and lodgment for inspection of detailed statements in connection therewith be left*in the hands of the secretary.

Reference was made to the tremeudous amount of work carried out by tho hon. secretary, and, on the motion of Mi1 Stiles, seconded by Mr Allen, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Snodgrass, and with that the proceedings were brought to a close.

CONSIDERATION BY ADVISORY

BOARD

Later in the evening the acting-chair-man, with the hon. secretary (who is n member of the Advisory Board), waited upon the- A'uvisory Board of £he Sick and..-Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Society, Jftid the hon. secretary placed tiie statement of accounts before the Tjoard and explained various points in connection therewith.

He a,lso referred to the particularly valuable service that had been rendered by the lion, secretary, and by Mr E. J. Allen, who with Mr George Robertson had acted as lion, treasurer, by Mr H. 11.
