TASMAN.

(From Our Own Correspondents.) Air Alex Ross, the well-known en- i ginoer, oi: Wellington, who recently met With a. severe accident, has been or-, elered a complete rest, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. A. J. Dutch at Tasman. Mr Matthefw Cable, engineer to the Wellington City Tramways, is spending a few days on his orchard at Tasman.

Norgate lias taken up his duties as head packer at the Tasman packing shed, lie will have the assistance of Mr J. H. Heath in the office and a full staff of packers and graders. The first load of fruit for the season was delivered to the shed on Friday afternoon from the orchards of Mrs McLaren and Miss Hunter-Brown.

A deputation of teamsters and contractors waited on Mr F. E. Nottage on Friday evening, and placed before him the position with regard to the high prices ruling for horse feed, implements, horse shoeing, and harness, and asked that some slight increases be agreed to in connection with certain classes of work on the Tasman Orchards.

After full discussion an amicable' agreement was reached, by which it was arranged that prices should be on a sliding scale, and be automatically reduced as prices for chaff, etc., are lowered.
