ILLEGAL CHANCE OF NAME.

At the Magistrate's Couru this morning Thomas Carr, alias John Rock, was charged with changing his name with^out the consent of the Minister of Internal Affairs and assuming a name other than that he was usually known by. "' "

The prosecution stated that the .defendant was a Reservist, and was drawn in the first ballot, his ten address being Miisterton. Ho had changed his name, and had been eluding the police for some time. Sergeant Henry asked for,a substantial penalty,, as the case was a serious one. ' .

The defendant was convicted and sentenced to three- months' imprisonment, thereafter to be handed.over to the military.
