An officer survivor from the Mary Rose says the, fighting was exceedingly fierce. Both.the German cruisers concentrated their fire on the Mary Rose. The bluejackets showed splendid courage and coolness, and fought the guns until the turrets were below the surface. No man thought of saving himself until the decks were awash.
