NELSON TROTTING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING.

(From "The Colonist/ Sept. 27th.) The annual meeting of the Nelson Trotting Club was held at Mercer's rooms last evening, the president (Mr. H. Baigent) in the cbair.

The annual report, which was printed and circulated among members, was as follows:—"Although the balancesheet shows a loss on the year's operations of £33 7s 2d, the club is still in a .sound financial position, laving £200 on fixed deposit and £14 15s 2d to credit of current account, while the assets.-are,estimated to be worth £104. This year the stakes Avere' increased bj £50, bringing the amount to £500, and the amount received for nominations and acceptances showed a corresponding increase. For nominations, £103 10s was received, as against £84 15s for the previous year, and for acceptances £108 os, as against £80. The race meeting was most successful, £'4569 boing put through the totalisator, as against £3727 at the 1916 meting. The amount paid in taxation to the Government was £223 18s 2d."

The balance-sheet was adopted on the j motion of the president, seconded by j Mr J. H. Finney. ] Officers were elected as follows: — j President, Mr H. Baigent (re-elected); j vice-presidentj Mr M. I*. Webster (re-! elected) ; hon. treasurer^ Mr E. E.: Trask (re-elected) ; handicapper, Mr J. Noble (re-elected); starter, Mr R. Hunter (re-elected); committee, Messrs 1). Criishek, F. G. Edwards, F. O. Hamilton, A. Grant, J. H. Finney, R. Harris, R. Hunter, T. W. Moorhonse, and J Watson; stewards, Messrs D. Crushek, F. G. Edwards J. H. Finney, IK. Hunter, R. Harris, F. O. Hamilton, and C J. Harley, with the president, vice-president, and hon. treasurer; timekeepers, Messrs R. Hunter and J. ■Hasten (re-elected); judge Mr G. Best; auditors, Messrs P. Bond and J. Ji. Finnev (re-elected) ; clerk of the course, Mr R" Gnukrodger; clerks of tiic scales. Messrs O. Haggitt and F. G. Edwards (re-elected). It was resolved that Messrs R. Hunter, M. P. Webster, A. Grant, 11. Harris,' and J. Watson be the Programme Committee.

It was resolved to offer £500 in! stakes for the next meeting. After discussion, it was resolved to apTily for Wednesday, February 13th, 1918". as'the date for tho next race mooting. Mr J. E.
