. August 21st. A very pleasant and largely attended; euchre tournament (as a wind-up to the cribbage season) was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Friday evening, Mr Logan, president, presiding. Prizes were won-as follows: —'Man's, Mr M. A. Haase; lady's, Mrs Bolton; man's boob}', Mr Hobbs; lady's booby, Mrs Plum. > The cribbage prizes for the season were won by:— Ist: Scottish Society, shield and club trophy. 2nd: Old Navals (runners-up), club trophy. .■■■■ .-..; 3rd:'"Citizens; club trophy." *" 4th: Brewers, club trophy. sth: Maitai Bowlers, club trophy. 6th and booby: Railway, leather medal and club trophy. Sherwood ; 2nd most games won during season, Mr Knapper. Most 24's held: Mr Plum. , Highest hand: Mr Whiting. Mr Moffatt /Scottish) on receiving the shield made a neat speech. Mr Stallard (Old Navals) gave a 6nef and interesting history of the association s-'nee it 3 inception. He said it started in the Anglers' room, and he believed was first mooted by the late Mr Hariby. A meeting was held at the Anglers' room in 1907, when representatives of all the taams were there, and the Nelson Cribbage Association was formed. Rules and regulations were drawn up and the number of teams was limited to ten, as that was thought quite.enough for the committee to look after. The following teams were in the first year of plav :—Anglers, Old Navals, Nelson .Rifles) Oddfellows (two teams), Druids, Fire Brigade, Maitai Bowlers, . Rechabites, and the Newsuaper Offices.
