TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING

'(From "The Colonist," August 11th.)

The annual congregational meeting of Trinity Presbyterian Church, held last Wednesday evening in the church hall, was well attended by both members and adherents of the church. The Rev. G. H. Gibb, 8.A., minister of the congregation, occupied the chair. ' The Kirk Session, in the sixty-eighth annual report^ * presented 'by Mr H. Rowe, Session clerk, referred to the resignation of the Rev. J. H. MacKenrie and tlie induction in his place of the Roy. G. H. Gibb, who commenced his 'ministry in Nelsen on Sunday, March 25th. During the year ended June 30th there had been 41 additions to the Communion roll, and the disjunctions were 29, of ivhich 27. were by transfer and 2 by death, leaving a "total membership of 159. Heartfelt sympathy was extended to the relatives of the late Mr W. Brown, senior elder of the Session, who died on August Ist, after having been for many years a keen and active member of tlie congregation. During the year the Session deemed' it desirable that nine new deacons should be elected, and the election resulted in Messrs 'Tv\ H. Robertson, P. Selby, and D. Wood, and Major Simpson being re-elected, and Messrs F. Trask, L. Finch, Neil Fleming, Joseph Neale, and J. Strachan being elected for the first time. The Session were glad to welcome home from tho "war Messrs L. Finch and P. S. Boyes. The Senior Young Men's Bible Class, which had been closed down for two years on account of the war, had been resuscitated under the most happy circumstances, and Messrs Beveridge, Finch, and Trask had been appointed co-leaders in tho meantime. An appeal was made to the congregation to give all possible assist-ance-and sympathy to Mr and" Mrs Gibb, who were both deeply in earnest in* their work for Christ's cause. In conclusion,' the Session thanked all those who had in any way assisted the work of the congregation during the past year. Mr F. A. Thompson moved, and Mr W. McConchie seconded, the adoption of the report. The treasurer (Mr E. B. Fleming) submitted the annual balance-sheet". In moving its adoption he stated that, in view of the increased expenses in which the congregation had been incplved during the past year, the financial outlook was on the whole a satisfactory one. He hoped, however, that during the new church year the bank overdraft would be reduced, or even wiped off altogether

Mr;.Dodds seconded the motion, and both the Session report and the balancesheet were unanimously adopted. The reports of the various congregational societies and organisations were read and adopted. These included renorts from the Senior and Junior Bible Classes, Sunday School, Young Women's Club, Ladies' Guild, Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union and the choir. All these organisations were .shown to be in a sound financial position, and-doing good work m the congrpgation. ' < The Minister, the Rev. Mr Gibb, addressed those present on several phases of congregational; work, emphasising tho importance of regular attendance at the sanctuary, and of systematic giving to the different congregational funds. This concluded, the formal part of the businoss, and a short musical programme was rendered by the following; Misses F. Thompson, H. Rowe, anS S. Pov/man, and -tho Rev. Mr. Gibb, Supper was handed round, and a very successful .and hearty annual meeting was cqreluded by the "singing of the Nation?-! Anthem and the pronouncing of tlio benediction.
