on tt r, Chnstchurch, May 18. G. M 3 ..M.1>., stated at Christchurch xhis morning that the proposal to sell the btate coalmines would not be sanctioned by them. Mr Russell said- he did not think there was the slightest chance of the proposal receiving the serious consideration of the Government. Mr Ell. said that he and many o,ner members would oppose it at every x-urn.
