Carroll, who was engaged in carting gravel m connection with tho alterations to the New Zealand Dairy Association's 'factory near by. Carroll hacl a maiU'ellous escape' from instant deatli. The ergine struck the two horses attached to the lorry, killing tl't'hi instantly, and wrecking a portion of the front of the lorry. Notwithstanding the impact, Carroll did' not lose his seat, and with the exception of losing some skin practici-.lly escaped injury of any sort. He did not notico the approaching train until, too late.
