BRITISH LABOUR LEADER'S APPEAL.
INTERNAL PEACE ESSENTIAL.
WOMEN MUST -REPLACE MEN.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association)
(Received May 16, 5^ p m „ T Washington, May 15. Mr James H. Thomas, M.P the British Labour leader, has appealed to American employees'and employers to give up thought of material gain, and work for thei peace of the common democracy. He says it would be suicide to have a labour war internally while fighting the common foe externally. Women must'take the men's places in industries. In England already 1,125,000 women have replaced men. Labour there has given up the power to strike, but the Government have guaranteed the worker's wages and to care for his family. Autocracy is Teaching out its hand, to spread its hellish doctrines over tho world. Democracy can win, but it can only win with Labour's aid.
