Sir Douglas Haig reports: There were small night outpost engagements isouth-eastward of Epehy.

The enemy heavily bombarded our positions. at Bullecourt and on the Hindenburg line, delivering two determined counter-attacks.

• Their attempt on the Hindenburg line completely failed.

The attack on Bulloeourt was also repulsed after heavy fighting, in which our advance posts in the north-west portion _of the village were forced back a short distance.

■Our artillery stopped a counter-attack south-eastward of Loos.
