An investigation into the derailing of General Joffre's train at Arcola, Illinois, disclosed the cause to be the accidental breaking "of a rail. :
The members'Of the French mission were shaken, but not hurt.
General Joffre and M. Viviani were showered withl bouquets as vases of flowers were flung in profusion around the interior of the car.
, There was great excitement when the news of the accident: was received. Doctors and mirses rushed to the scene by automobile. •■/. However, they discovered -M.>'.Vivian^ climbing out of >the wreckage unhurt. :'
General Joffre stolidly emerged, and took bis vseat in another car which re-, mained on the rails.. He made no remark regarding the accident.
M. Hovalique argued vigorously with the conductor as to the possible causes of the accident.
