As tho result of a conforence between Dr. Valintine, Inspector -General of Hospitals, and tho, Wellington Hospital Board, an agreement^ has been reached whereby "the Government will take aver the Otaki Hospital and Sanatorium from tho beginning of next year for the use of returned soldiers requiring medical and surgical treatment or suffering from consumption. \ The question of tho maintenance of j industrial school children as between the Education Department and Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards was discussed to-day by the Wellington Hospital Board. Tho Education Department not'fied.its intention to modify fcho scheme of payments for the maintenance of such children,- which, in the case of tho Wellington' board, will involve a loss of about £1400 annually.
