Tim fbilrlrcn's fancy dross ball held at the Provincial Hall.last night v.mler the auspices of the Brook Fusiliers was a
tremendous success in every way. Up till half-past 9 o'clock the children held the ballroom, and fully two hundred young people were on" the floor. The fancy dresses, mainly pretty or quaint, made a gay display, and the scene was one that will long bo remembered by those who witnessed it. The task of allotting the prizes was a difficult one, but the awards met with general approval. Among the girls, the prizewinners wore Jean .Airoy ("Ballet Girl"), prettiest costume; Miss Lulham ("Reekitt's Blue"), most original costume; and Miss' N'Vholl ("Vive la France")-. The boy prize-winners were Noil Pharazyn ("Indian Rajah") and Harold Blochynden ("Charl:o Chaplin"). Special mention requires io be mado of the grand march by the children. This opened the ball, and was followed 'by the singing of the National Anthem. In .addition to the dancing, games were indulged in, and the youngsters had a particularly'happy, time. The adults had their turn in due course, and the hall proved all too sm&ill for the number present. Beautiful music wa§ supplied by theJS'elson Concert Orchestra, and Messrs Packard and F. Smallbone efficiently carried out the duties of masters of'ceremonies. The hall was tastefully decorated, (and the ladies provided a bountiful* supper.
