MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.

A meeting of the Executive of the Silver Bullet Cannonade was held at the rooms last evening, Mr H. R. Duncan presiding.

A number of reports were, handed in, all going to show that the scheme is progressing most satisfactorily. It was reported that the request to have- Monday, July 31 st, declared a public holiday in lieu of the first Monday in August had been complied.,with, the necessary requisition having 'been obtained.

With regard to Paddy's Market, the ! chairman of the 'committee (Mi" A. Gould) reported that Mrs .Kelling had undertaken the charge of the tea liiosk, and would arrange for her own staff and secure the necessary tables, etc v The committee had resolved that Mrs Kelling be given sole charge of the kiosk during the whole period of the market, and that one day be allotted to each array, the army to provide the material for its own day and to receive the proceeds for that-day. The. prices for admission had been fixed and season tickets arranged for. The Executive was requested to arrange for a lato train on Wednesday, the 19th. inst., and to have the late train on Saturday, the 22nd inst., delayed till 10.30 or 11 p.m. Mr W. Lints, organiser, reported on what was being done by the Entertainment Committee, of which Mr Squires is chairman, to provide continuous attractions during the period of the market, both in the market centre and in the Provincial Hall and annexes. Incidentally he mentioned that a Silver Bullet Orchestra was being formed to assist, and that other musical assistanco was promised. After discussion it was resolved that the formal opening of Paddy's Market should take place at 7.30<p.m. on Monday, the 17th inst., to be preceded'by a procession, which is being arranged for. An inquiry was received from one of the country armies with regard to the princess and her regalia. It was resolved to reply that the Executive would provide the regalia to l>e worn by the princess of the winning army on the finalday. when the ceremony of crowning would take place. Armies are to find the dresses for iheir own princesses, but it is suggested that simplo inexpensive robes should be provided. It was reported that Messrs Rcflbcrtson Bios., Ltd., would make the 'Barometer" free of charge, and that Messrs Savage and Son would do the lettering also withxm't charge. It was resolved that the secretaries' of each of the armies be invited to attend the meetings of the Executive.
