A Scottish paper contains the following:—"Some few weeks ago we a,nnounced in coir columns that Pioneer Robert Beveridge, of the Now Zealand Contingent, who put in eight months' service in Gallipoli, had been promoted to the rank of sergeant in recognition of, his devotion to duty and for bringing a convoy of rations through a shellswept area during a fierce bombardment, his convoy being the only one to get through to the firing line. Sergeant Beveridge's good fortune still attends him, and word has been received that h© has been promoted to regimental quartermaster-sefrgeant.'' Private advice has been received ihat Lieutenant-Oolonel W. J. Glasgow, of the Royal West Surrey Regiment, has been promoted to the raok of Briga-dier-General.
