ARBITRATION COURT.
NELSON DISPUTES
At tho sitting of the ArbitrationCourt at Nelson on Saturday, before Mr Justice Stringer and Mr J. McCullough as assessor, the date of the general labourers' agreement coming mio operation was left to bo fixed by the Court lalu-r on.
An application to hare certain names added to the Flouriniilers' award wus granted.
The hotel-workers' dispute was 'withdrawn by leave of tlio Court, in view of tho Court having ruled that the Hotel Workers' Union, which instituted the proceedings, had no jurisdiction in tho Nelson district.
Mr J. Ingram represented the workers in the foregoing cases. An application by the Amalgamated Society «f Carpenters and Joiners to have certain names added to the award was granted. Mr "W. C. Chcel represented the society.
A motion to review tho. order fixing the amount of compensation to be paid to Chas. Jordan came ..before the Court. Jordan was an employee of Brownlee and Co., of Havelock, and for injuries sustained was awarded half-wages. The Court reduced the compensation to £1 15s TOd monthly. Mr Hayes appeared for Jordan and Mr E. B. Moore for Brownlee arid Co.
