Tha "Daily Telegraph's ' Home correspondent states that an rr.a'.'.an offensive which was simultaneous with the Gevri'.iiii attack on Verdun resulted in the extension of the Italian lines by several kilometres in southern and en stern Trentino. On the Isonzo and on the Carso front'thirty villages and many fortified hills in the Ledro, Daone, Adige and Sugana Valleys passed into Italian possession. Eig:it Austrian forts on Lake Garda are now being besieged. Totmino is under Italian fire on three sides. The Austrians have been reinforced, but chiefly by youngsters and territorials. Prisoners state that the Austrians would have attacked, but the Italians forestalled them.
