Wellington, April 14. - Messrs Burbideo and Son report as follows on the. Wellington fruit and produco market:—

The market hero is low; for, dessert •apples and pears. Cooking varieties are selling slightly belter. Green vegetables, fresh eggs, and poultry am scarce. Current prices are: Cox's Orange 5s to 6s (3d ; Jonathan 2s Gd to 4s Gd, Russets 2* 6d to 3s 6d ; Pearmain 2s to 3s-6d,;Munroe's Favourite 2s 9d to 3s fid, Alfriston 3s to 3s 9d, J<i-e Crown 2s 9d to 3s1 6d. 'PearsColes 2s 6d to 4s 6d, Nelis 3s 6d to ss, Vicar of Winkfield 2s 6d to 3s, Be-urro Diel 2s 3d to 2s 9d," all dump cases. l'refth eggs 2s 2d to 2s 3d per dozen. Cabbages 6s to 3s, cauliflowers 9s to J2s per sack, peas 2s per peck, French beans 3-kl ppr lb. Fowls 5s to 6s Gd ducks 7s per pair, Messrs Griffiths and Co., Ltd. (incorporating Braid and Wallace) report as follows on tho Wellington fruit and produce market.:— Values of apples and pears have declined throughout the week 011 account of the extremely heavy quantities coming forward, and the'market is oversupplied. Values are disappointing, and only limited supplies will help to advance the market at the present' time. Only very choice fruit is now commanding attention, and moderate and inferior samples will scarcely realise expenses. Quinces are in good demand with supplies limited Cape gooseberries have good inquiry. Walnuts realise Sd to B;Vd per lb. Mushrooms are wanted. Nelson grapes, according' to size, are worth up to 10k! per" lb. Melons are iv heavier supply. Poultry, butter, and eggs are wanted. The Easter holidays may create a better demand for dessert fruit. Thompson Bros., Ltd., report as follows on tne Wellington fruit and pro luce market:— During tiie week exceptionally heavy supplies of all varieties of apples and pears have been, forwarded, with the result that the market i.s temporarily oveisupplied, the demand being unequal to the .supply. Therefore we have to- re-port low values obtaining. We quote as follows:—Apples, choice well coloured Jonathans os <jd to 6s 3d, others -3s 6d to 4s 6d, Cox's Orange Pippins choice ss, others 4s to 4s 6d, other desserts 3s 6d to ss; cookers. Munroe's, Cleopatras, Five Crown, and Wolseleys 3-s Gd to 4s 6d, inferior grades 2s 6d to 3s per bushel. Pears: Winter Nelis and Winter Colo 3s 6d. to os. Capiaunitiiit' 3s 6d to Is, Bishop's Thumb 2s 6d to 3s, Boscs 2s 9d to 3s 3d, Vic-ar of Winkfield 3s Gd to Is per bushel. Peaches .are practically exhausted. Grapes, choice Nelson Is, Butt Is Id to is 2d, Motueka, Sd to l()d per lb; passionfruit 5s 6d to 6s per half-case; quinces, -Is 6d _to 5s per bushel; tomatoes, choice iiiirst 2s Gd to -3s Gd per half-case ; Cape gooseberries ;;d to 6d per lb ; lemons, New Zealand 10s to 12s per bushel. All vegetables arc wanted. Cabbages 10s to 12s> melons 4s to ss, cauliflowers .1.2s to 14s, pumpkins 5s to 6s, .marrows 6s to 7* per sack ; swedes 4s to 5s per cwt; walnuts, new, Si-.d to 9d per lb ; hazelnuts, 6d to 7d per 3b.
