Things have been quieter in the region of Verdun. Further attacks on British trenches in France were driven back. There has been more close fightinglbetween the Italians and Austrians. In the Caucasus the Turks failed to recapture important sectors. Sir Percy Lake denies the Turkish report as to the extent of our losses at JFeJahie, in Mesopotamia, where the weather is again extraordinarily bad. A. German p<per says that Roumania is,under agreement not to attack the AustroGerman forces unless certain things happen. The relations of the United States and Germany are again described as likely to lead to a rupture.
