OPENING QF THE SEASON

The opening of the Maitai Bawling Club's green took place on Saturday afternoon in fine weathor. There was a large gathering of bowl&r* and their friends. The president (Mr G. Glover), in his opening, remarks, welcomed the risitors, and eommendod th» caretaker (Mr W. Tomblin) for the car© h* had bestowed on the green during thai :& season. Mrs Gfover lißTing «Ulir»red the first bowl., the green wa» declared open. The usual opening; match between teams chosen foy tha Pre*ident and Vice-president wa&"pla>yed, and was won by the latter by 5" points. During the afternoon a collection was taken up by the Lady Liverpool Committee, and realised £5 15s 9d,. which •will get towards purchasing Christmas gifts for our boys at the Dardanelles, The scores were as follows, the President's team being mentioned first; —
