A euchre party and .dance'was given at the Oddfellows' Hall on Saturday evening, 'to*bid. iarevreli to Private D. Thompson, who is leaving io~ rnorroAV for tho training camp. Captain .1. L. Ching,'after a brief speech, presented the guest of tlic evening with, a set of military hair brushes, as a small iokori of remembrance. Private Thompson''suitably returned thanks. Private Thompson has also been the recipient of a wristlet watch from the aiuS of Messrs Bisley Bros, and Co. '23is parents, Mr and Mrs R. Thompson, ha»vo two &ous at the Dardanelles. Thoienlistiywnt of a _ third son betokens a fine t-pirit of patriotism in the family. Lieutenant W. Oarrol Harley, Adjutant of the 12th Nelson Regiment, has be^n accepted for active service, and will go into camp at Trentham next month.

Mr K. Saxon, of the teaching: >staff of Nelson College, has been informed that, he has been given a commission in the next Reinforcements as a lieutenant. This is the third . teacher from Nelson College to join the Reinforcements recently, Messrs Morrison and Worley stlso having received , commissions during the past week or two.
