THE WOMEN'S PART.

A rally of the lady members of the varioua patriotic funds was held at the Haeremai Tea Rooms yesterday, afternoon for tho purpose of welcoming Mrs Porter, organising secretary for the Women's National-Reserve for the Wellington military district, who is visiting Nelson for the purpose of I'orrr.ing a b«am.-h pj£ that organisation in Nelson. There were over 50 present. After tea had been partaken of, and at the expressed wish of Mrs Porter (who is suffering from a severe cold), Mrs W. Lock addressed the ladies, pointing ouft the aims and objects of the Women* 8 Reserya movement. These, in addition to supporting all loyal efforts of t\he citizens during the war, include the compilation of a register of those women who were willing to undertake some branch of work so as to enable as far as possible the men to leave for active service without dislocating trade and other pursuits. She hoped that the Women of all classes of .the oomimmity would take up movement with* enthusiasm, for, if properly organised, much could be accomplished in the directions he had indicated. On behalf of those present she welcomed Mrs Porter to the city, and trusted her mission would be successful. Mrs Porter express**! her thanks for thfc. kind welcome extended to her, and said she felt sure the-movement would be a success in Nelson.
