RICHMOND BULB SHOW.
(From "The Colonist," Sept. 13.) j The above^ show was held, at Richmond on Friday.' , There was a splendid exhibit of blooms, the four .large tables with three tiers being fully laden. Unfortunately the wet day interfered with the attendance, but nevertheless there was a fair number present during the afternoon, and the hall was packed at night. Some very fine blooms' were staged by Nelson and local growers, and the awards were well distributed. The champion trumpet narcissi .was won by Mr. G. Challies, with a. fine King Alfred, and the best cup by Mrs. Angus with a perfect Lucifer showing splendid colour and strong perianths. A feature of the show was the decorative baskets, and epergnes, always a strong item at Richmond. The special was won by Mrs. G. G. Wearing, with a basket very daintily done with pink hyacinths. r < ■ . Mr. James Hunt (the Mayor) declared th© show open.
