NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH CENTRE.

The annual meeting of. delegates to the Nelson and Mariboroi'gh Bowling Centre was held at the Nelson Bowling Club's 1 room on Saturday afternoon, when the following -nere present :— Messrs J. E. Allen, vice-president (in the chair), E S. Ciesswell (Nelson), A. D. .Burns (Blenhein.), T. Baldane (Takaka). A. Baigcnt (vVakefield), A. E. Mansford (Riveivsdale). S. F Sherwood, hon. treasurer (Maitai), and R. W. Stiles, secretary (Nfelson). The secretary presented the. report for the past year, the principal itenl of interest being the second annual tournament, held at Nelson at the New Year, for which 22 rinks and 38 pairs entered. The full rink winners were W. Lane,G, H. Budden, L. Drogemuller, and'.T. J. Griffin (s), of the Motueka Club; runners-up, E. Richards, J. Look wood, G. M. Simpson, and J. M. Calder (s), of the Maitai Club The .Pairs competition was won by T. A. H. Field and A McKee (s), of tho Nelson Club; runneis-iip, 0. M. Whelan and S. F. Sherwood (s), of the Maitai Club. The winners of the consolation match wer-3 G. H. Budden, A. G. lietts, L. Buckendge,' and W. S. Angus (s), of the Nelson Club; runners W. H. Phillips, G. J. Robertson, L. M. Naylor and Bert, Tasked (s), of the Nelson Club. There was a profit cf £5 18s from the tournament. It was stated that an effort to reach clubs b> a chain letter system had been partially suc^psful, but that certain clubs were somewhat lax with their correspondence. All clubs had paid or made arrangements, for the payment of their levies" for the season. Tho strength of tho affiliated clti'bs was as follows:—.Nelson .708, Blenheim S? Maitai .% Picton 38. Takaka 41. Motueka 40, Wakeiield 26, Riversdale 86. Total membership, 458. The Nelson clubs were thanked for the use of their greens at the New Tear.

The lion, treasurer (Mr S. F. Sherwood) presented the balance-sheet, which showed a. credit balance of £16 19s fir], with £2 153 outstanding payments to be brought to credit The report and balance-sheet were adopted., Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—President, Mr J. E. Allen (Maifni); vice-president, Mr A. Baigent (Wakeiield); hon. treasurer, Mr S. F. Sherwood (re-elected); committee, Messrs. E- S. Cresswell, A. D. Burns T Haldane, A. Dee, and C. M. Whelan; auditors, Messrs J. E. Milne:-(re-elwted) and G. J. Robertson. It was resolved that the levy for theensuing year be threepence per club member.

Resolved, that, subject to the approval of the Mariborough clubs, tho third centre tournament (two days) be held at Blenheim at. Christmas.

The secretary reported that all clubs had been written to for an opinion as to retaining the "two feet on the mat.'' rule, and five had replied, as follows:— For the role—Maitai, Blenheim, and Picton , against;— Nelson and Riversdale. Replies were still to be received from the Takaka, Motueka, and Wakefield clubs.

The president, and the vice-president expressed thanks tor election to office, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
