NELSON DISTRICT, M.U., 1.0.0. F.

(From "The Colonist," July 6.) The half-Yearly meeting of the Management Committee of the Nelson District, M.U., 1.0.0. F., was held at the hall, Nelson, on Saturday evening. Prov. G.M. R- S. Haycock presided. Deputy Prov. G.M, W. Liddle Prov. Secretary A. G. Shnmpton, P.P-G.M• s W D Harkness, Ivo Tunmchffe, J. W" Hagen, W. H. Robertson, W. H. Prebble, and W. Thompson were also present. Prov. Treasurer J. P. Coolie was excused from attendance.. Arising out of the minutes of the previous meeting, it was decided to request a country lodge to reply to the resolution adopted regarding the opening of a special account. Correspondence was received from the central body regarding funeral allowance of members dying whilst on active service, requesting that the full name and regimental number of the deceased members be supplied, and on receipt of a certificate from the INew Zealand Military Headquarters, authority will be issued to pay over the allowance. Several additions to the list of members on active service were_ received from the lodges, the respective members being relieved from paying contribuitions from the date of signing on. An application was received from a member of the Mansion of Peace Lodge to utilise his share of the surplus to redeem contributions. The actuary reported that the amount of surplus was sufficient to relievo the member from paying any further contributions ■to the Sick and Funeral Fund. A circular was received from tho Gala Committee of the Sick and? Wounded Soldiers' Fund, and in connection therewith a deputation from the two city ledges (Nelson and Howard) waited on the District Committee. The representative/? were Bros. A. Day and A. Cross of the JNelson Lodge and Bros. W. McOonoliie &ad C. Graham of the Howard Lodge. Bl'O, A. Day outlined the object of the deputation, stating that . the committee .of t>oth lodges had entered heartily into the proposal, and were desirous £>f preparing an emblematical representation of the order for the procession, and sought the co-operation of the District Committee and the whole of the lodges' to make the effort a success, also giving an estimate of the probable cost. It was unanimously" resolved that the financial assistance be grantede, and the members, of all the .lodges in the District be called out ion that day. The combined committee,and all members interested are to meet at" the hall this evening to arrange details and prepaid goar. On retiring the deputation were /worded a vote of thanks
