NATIONAL RESERVE.

Prior to the public meeting at the City Council Chambers last evening in connection with the- Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund, the artilhry, infantry, and ambulance sections of the National Reserve paraded at tho Drillshori, and, headed by the' band of the 12th Regiment, marched through the principal streets to the Church Steps, whore at the request cf Captain Clung, they were addressed by the Hon. A. T. Maginnitj-, M.L.C.,.who said ho had great, pleasure in meeting for the first time on parade the monof the National Reserve. He thanked ih&m in the name of the people of the Dominion for their self-denying efforts in the defence of their country. He was sure if their services were at any time required they would not be found wanting. Three cheers were- heartily given for Iho National Reserve, who were thea inarched back to tho Drillshed.

Twenty-six members of the Ambulance section of the National Reserve met at the Temperance Hall after the ■parade last night. For the benefit of new members. Dr. Jeffreys summarised some of his "" previous instruction, and then gave a lecture en ca-ses of choking, suffocation and drowning. A new stretcher made by Mr. W. McConchie was on view.
