Tucker was released from prison a few days ago. Ho forced his way into the house in the early hours of the morning. It appears* that ho used a hatchet in killing his victims. Ho kept his wife tied to the bedpost for several hours, and then released her after killing Matheson. . v

The mother and boy spent twelve frightful hours without food. There were frequent quarS'ls between the couple, terminating in Tucker striking his wife on the head trith the hatchet. The blows were repeated at every groan till she was dead, the boy burying his head in the bedclothes in terror at tiie sight.

Tucker, after . shooting himself through the cheek, went to his sister's residence, and was thence taken to the hospital. He is likely to recover.
