(Received June 13, 2.10 p.m.)

Washington, June 12,

Mr. Bryan has issued a statement to German-Americans, urging them to aid in maintaining peace between the United States and the Fatherland by, exerting their influence upon the German Gov-eriiment to persuade it not to take steps likely to lead in the direction of war.

He states that the criticisms of America's neutrality are stronger from the Germans than the Allies. He explains that all the belligerents have- theright to purchase arms from the United States, but the Allies by commanding the sea have an advantage over Germany.

Mr. Bryan asks them to forget any suspicions of lack, of friendship on the part of President Wilson towards tho German people.
