i The censor is a much-abused person these days, and apparently there is justification for the abuse occasionally, says tJie Auckland/"Star." A case in point is now engaging the attention of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, and will be brought by the chairman ; (Mr Robert Burns) before the Government. In Auckland there is a big butter-shipping firm which always cables to tiie Home buyer the name of tho steamer by which a shipment is leaving, and also the siw of the shipment. This is done in order that tho consignment may be insured by the Home buyer. Apparently tho censor in England refused to alloAv any of tho cables through, and no information was sent to the Auckland firm to intimate that their cable-had been censor-; ed Consequently tho Auckland firm; had as much as £GOOQ worth of butter j on the water at the one time uninsur- j od. It was ascertained that the cable j had been passed by the Now Zealand censor without any bother, and it is felt that the Government should take action with a view to the protection of shippers' interests.
