PLUNKET NURSE MORGAN.

(To the Editor of "The"Colonist.") Sir, —Through the medium of your valuable paper, I am writing an appeal to the many parents" who have been helped by the district nurse, Nurse Morgan. " She has been, working most ■assiduously during the past year ■or two, rendering valuable 'service to our homes, and now she i§ to leavers to/take xip the. impor ta nt, respond ble position of head or the Plunket Society in New Zealand as matron of the • Karitaue Home. Until Nurse Morgan camo the Plunket Society was just a name; but now, through lie* -untiring efforts, many, homos have been entered, and ignorance about the early bringing up of children removed, and a splendid healthy spirit aroused in' mothers and fathers who have been fortunate enough to come in contact with this splendid woman. What is to be done, must be done quickly, and I suggest that all parents contribute a small sum, say, Is —which just now is all many can afford—and^ with the same send a short letter of appreciation for Nurse Morgan to keep, on the value of the Plunket Society and the good it is doing. The nurse visits the homes, aiid gives advice free, and trains and leaches the mothers haw to bring up ihc little ones. All this is done without any expense to the parents, and many have expressed their desire to give y small token of appreciation. I feel certain tlw nurse desires no reward, for she would feel amply rewarded if the children grow uy to bo strong and healthy. She realises she is doing a national duty, and it is for us. parents to realise the same. I urn willing to receive contributions, would like the money to be ;n before the 18th inst., that is, one week's time, as a big farewell gathering, 1 'believe, is to take place next day, at which" the presentation could take place. Thanking you for your valuable space, and trusting that this letter will have the desired effect. I an?, etc., ERNEST A. WOOD. 11-fi-'ls._ j _
